Ok, I can do this. However, it would pay to know when the ZTS/Thread Safe version was planned for a Real Release. Since the code I plan depends on this being widely available, a far-distance release could impact my plans severely. Is there a timeframe for a ZTS-enabled release version?
No, there isn't. I can tell you that the code is there, but it lacks wide-scale testing, which will definitely reveal bugs. FWIW, you can begin using it, and report/fix bugs as you go along. Your mileage may vary, though. There's not that much meaning to the 'Release' tag - we decide to release a package out of beta when the feedback we receive is wide enough and obviously, positive. We can't recommend anyone to use the thread-safe version of PHP in production, mainly because we haven't gotten almost any feedback about PHP running in a multithreaded environment.
