If you choose any threaded SAPI module (including AOLserver), the thread-safe mode (ZTS) is automatically enabled. During my testing, performing multiple concurrent accesses to AOLserver+PHP has been quiet stable. Problems come up, once you use PHP functions which rely on possible non-thread safe libraries. There are a couple of known issues which have not been resolved, because it is either impossible to solve them without rewriting the whole library or it is way down on our todo lists. If you have any short test scripts (<10 lines) which cause problems in thread-safe mode, please post a bug report. That will help us on the way to a stable thread-safe PHP. - Sascha
