With other autoconfigured software, setting --prefix overrides the
default location for everything, unless you specifically override the
--prefix value. Shouldn't the same be true of PHP? And is that the
only thing that wasn't relocated by the combination of --with-exec-dir
and --prefix? In my view, I should not have had to specify
--with-exec-dir either once --prefix was specified; after all, my chosen
--with-exec-dir is under --prefix.
I absolutely accept that this is probably a valid workaround; I remain
to be convinced it should be necessary.
