I didn't finish today. These past two days have just been a warmup
for the deadlock detection which I'll do tomorrow. After that, some
work really should be done on timeouts but it's not supercritical for
3.0.6. I've got some more pressing things to work on, so timeouts
will be put off until next week at the earliest.
