PHP stores it's session variables in the /tmp directory by default, but another
directory can be specified in the php.ini file. I am guessing that if you
mount an NFS volume between all the web servers and have them all point their
session directory to the same place, the session will be maintained no matter
what computer the user is at as long as the cookie comes from the domain of the
server and not a specific computer. I'm thinking if the session cookie is set
from .mysite.com and any computer in *.mysite.com stores it's session variables
in the shared directory there shouldn't be a problem. You can avoid any cookie
situation by explicitly passing the session variables and aviod cookies also.
