CORBA support for PHP is possible. I'm currently working on it, using
ORBit as ORB. Please read the php-dev archives for some previous
discussion on this topic.
Your approach with a single call might be simpler to implement, but it's a
little to atomic for my personal taste.
My system works with making my own PHP classes and using them something
like this:
$ior = "IOR:[0-9,a-f]*";
$success = orbit_load_idl("phptest.idl");
$env = new OrbitEnvironment();
$obj = new OrbitObject($ior, $env);
$str = $obj->LoopString("nisse");
echo "$str\n";
My employer has not yet decided whether to release my work or not.
