Well, I *can* but I'm not sure it's really necessary ...
First ii is shorter than ingres which is imho better. Second not every other
database modules has a function prefix matching the module's name (pg_ for
pgql, ifx_ for informix, ora_ for oracle, OCI for oci8, ...). And last I chose
this prefix because it matches those used in the ingres api (iiapi_ for
functions, II_ for data types, ...).
So personnaly I would stick to ii_ but I'm not a dictator, and I will make the
change if many people ask for ingres_.
