From: kalle@linuxbutiken.com Operating system: RH6.2 PHP version: 4.0 Release Candidate 2 PHP Bug Type: Installation problem Bug description: httpd daemon dies immediately after start. I have compiled php as described below. Before installation, Apache works fine, documents can be viewed etc. but after installing PHP the httpd daemon dies immediately after start. When I remove the following lines from /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf; ________ LoadModule php4_module /etc/httpd/modules/libphp4.so <cut> AddModule mod_php4 ________ ; the daemon works fine, i.e. httpd does not die, the web page is accessible etc. (w/o php support ofcourse) PHP installation commands: $ cd php-4.0.1pl2 $ ./configure --with-apxs --with-mysql=/usr $ make $ make install Apache information: (standard default precompiled RPM binaries from RH6.2 distribution) apache-1.3.12-2 apache-devel-1.3.12-2 apache-manual-1.3.12-2 MySQL information: (RPM's) MySQL-3.23.18-1 MySQL-client-3.23.18-1 MySQL-devel-3.23.18-1 MySQL-shared-3.23.18-1 Kernel: linux-2.2.14 **NOTE**: I have done *EXACTLY* the same thing on TWO computers, both with different configurations. I have installed earlier versions of PHP (4.0.0) without problem on both machines. The same fault occured on both computers, i.e. the httpd-daemon died immediately. Thankful for response! /Kalle
