Should have said "compiled PHP in Apache statically", was not referring
to compiling PHP as a static object. I've since found a way to compile
successfully but it's not an intuitive solution. I'm waiting till we
actually put some PHP apps into production in the next week or two before I
close the problem and write up a summary. I want to make certain PHP is
100% functional on our servers.
thanks,
Greg

What do you mean "Have not seriously considered compiling PHP statically due
to its 2MB+ size and resulting performance hit." ?
PHP loaded statically is actually faster on most operating systems,
including Linux. The size of the static binary is irrelevant.
As for your problem. All I have to add here is that I have PHP 4 with
Oracle 8.0.5 libs and mod_ssl working fine. I don't have the EasySoft piece
though.
