I don't know either when it comes to OpenLDAP. I'm adding support for
Oracle's LDAP SDK now, they have a separate call for turning on SSL,
so I may have to add a PHP way of turning it on too. We must be careful
how we do it though, the last thing we want is confusion where people
might think they have SSL turned on, but haven't.
