FYI (win32 debug builders having problems with assertion failures): project-options->debug->linker->input->[add "msvcrt" to ignore libs]
This should solve the MSCVRT version problem. It was (I think) this that was causing the assertions. In debug mode, the compiler uses a debug heap for memory allocation, which is checked and 'assert'd whenever memory is freed. Somehow (not sure how) memory was being allocated on one heap and freed on another.
