So could it be changed to be like every other extension is? And mysql too.
(are there others? xml?)
IMO every extension (=something that extends core?) should be enabled and
compiled ONLY when really wanted. Compiling useless extensions is only waste
of time (and at runtime, memory?).
Or is this again backwards compatibility problem?-)
