One extension that would improve (imho) the robustness of php's error handling would be to allow errors to be piped to a script or posted to a url.
This change would make it simple to separate the script and its error handling code. It should also make it very easy to gracefully handle fatal errors with a minimum of effort.
Something like:
error_log "|error_handler.php"
error_log "http://www.somehost.com/custom_error_handler.php"
It would also be nice if we could set these actions based on the type of error.
Something like:
error_log E_PARSE "|error_parse.php"
Any thoughts or comments? Is there another way to easily acheive the same functionality?
From what I understand from the try/catch discussion, this could be done with try/catch. This would just be cleaner and simpler.
Just my 0.02 :)
