The proposed fix is not entirely good, and may change the semantics of some scripts (for the worse, IMHO). There is a limitation in the current code, but it has to be solved in a different way.
IMHO, it's not a show stopper for 4.0.3, even though I'll try to address it before 4.0.3 goes out.
