if it returns a value of the form xx.00, is it decimal then?
Here's the code I used:
while (($fetchrowstat=odbc_fetch_row($qryid)) && $counter-->0) {
$subnum=(odbc_result($qryid,"submission_num");
...
'submission_num' is an MS SQL Server 7 _integer_ column of width 4,
but $subnum ends up having a value of the form xx.00
