Alex,
Your letter consistently shows that you really don't believe in the idea of an IDE, and that you're much happier with a powerful editor (emacs). Most of the things you described as 'annoying' or 'not useful' are extremely useful (auto-complete/intellisense, to name an obvious one), and are one of the most powerful features of IDEs today.
I think that the fact you appear to oppose the concept behind IDEs doesn't change the fact that most people are much happier and much more productive with an IDE than a set of text tools, a-la emacs&grep.
Again, this has nothing much specific to do with PHP, but with developing software in general. I can say that personally, I'm usually much more productive under Visual C++ with its intellisense, cross reference and online help, than I am with a UNIX shell, vi, grep and man. I'm sure that there are many others (as I'm sure there are also many others that don't like the concept of an IDE, and prefer to use a set of standalone tools).
