Not that it will stop the stupid questions on the mailing list at
all, but I added the text below to the general mailing list welcome
message. I'm also considering writing a generic polite response to
off-topic and FAQ questions that I will be able to send with a
simple keystroke or two. Every time I see [OT] on the main mailing
list, I want to scream.
I'm also planning on spending some quality time with the documentation
soon, beefing up and reorganizing the non-function-reference stuff,
so if you have any suggestions, let me know (in particular, if you
wrote any tutorials or articles available out there on the web that
it would okay for me to incorporate, please let me know).

Welcome to the PHP3 User Mailing list!
Before sending questions to the list, you should make sure
you have done your homework by taking the following steps:
1. Read the FAQ at http://www.php.net/FAQ.php3
2. Read the relevant parts of the manual available at
http://www.php.net/manual/.
3. Search the mailing list archives to see if your question
or problem has already been discussed. You can use the search
form at http://www.php.net/search.php3.
4. If your question is not about PHP, please do not post
it to the list. While there a number of people that are
knowledgeable about a wide range of subjects subscribed, the
list already sees a great deal of on-topic traffic, and
off-topic questions are inappropriate.
