I have found --enable-trans-sid to be perhaps the most powerful tool in PHP
4 when working with sessions. However, I have been looking to expand the
power of the trans-sid to support multiple subdomain sites using the same
sessions without having to embed <?=SID?> in all the pages.
I tried to go into the PHP source and figure our where and when the
"rewrite" engine is applied to the page, and I can't seem to find the proper
jumping off point. I see the code for url_scanner, but I don't understand
where it figures out where in the engine the logic checks the link against
the current server name.
Essentially, I want to expand the session support with a .ini value, like:
sessions.trans_sid_domains =
"www.green-ant.com,green-ant.com,mail.green-ant.com";
And then have each of the domains be rewritten just as would normally happen
for the accessed server.
I'd love to help make such a feature work, but I need a shove in the right
direction. I'd also appreciate any feedback as to the possible performance
hit this would introduce, and technical reasons for this feature not yet
being implemented, or any other hints, tips, or tricks.
