Generally, a perfect C implementation will always be quicker than a PHP implementation, because the scripting engine has its overhead. However, whether or not you write perfect C code is a different question :)

Hi, I apologize in advance if this is not the place to ask. I just figured, I'd get a better answer from this group. Is there a performance increase by compiling your code into php (either dynamic or static) as opposed to writing complex code in php. Note: this bit of code would be used by every request in the application, reads many files and does a lot of string parsing. thanks, colin -- Colin McDonald - colin@nexus.carleton.cahome: http://nexus.carleton.ca/~colin/public key: http://nexus.carleton.ca/~colin/pubkey.asc fingerprint: http://nexus.carleton.ca/~colin/fingerprint.asc -- PHP Development Mailing List <http://www.php.net/> To unsubscribe, e-mail: php-dev-unsubscribe@lists.php.net For additional commands, e-mail: php-dev-help@lists.php.net To contact the list administrators, e-mail: php-list-admin@lists.php.net
