NOTICE: The size in gdbm is not restricted like dbm or
ndbm. Your data can be as large as you want.
The sendmail book, 2nd revision, page 648:
The dbm class, which is really the ndbm form of database, is
the traditional form of UNIX database. [...] The data must
fit in blocks of fixed sizes, so there is usually a limit of
the maximum size (1 kilobyte or so) on any given stored
datum.
[...] Because of the limit on the size of a datum, you should
consider using one of the db(3) hash or btree classes
instead.
