That's why I wanted someone to look at it and make sure I didn't do
anything destructive...

That will take care of the casts, the stack_init rename and the
HAVE_SNPRINTF macro changes still need to be there (in configure.in and
php.h). I ran through a compile and added a -traditional-cpp by hand when
it failed, and that worked once with the exception of the above.
