(file|socket)_set_blocking?

Good morning,
I have a question:
What's the reason for the socket_set_blocking() function not accepting
filehandles (PHP_STREAM_IS_STDIO), but only streams. Really?
The actual system calls (fcntl()) are the same for both fd's and streams, so
I suspect there might be a good reason for being the way it is.
Thought I would ask, because it sure would be nice if fd's could also be set
non blocking, without having to add that function in the source myself every
new PHP install, and without using dio.
