I agree that the latter makes more sense than just saying 'proper address'.

Very minor point:
In the page http://php.net/manual/en/function.ip2long.php
the description says:
"Converts a string containing an (IPv4) Internet Protocol dotted address into a proper
address"
and it should say
"Converts a string containing an (IPv4) Internet Protocol dotted address into a long
integer"
Shouldn't it?
