Doc #71065 [NEW]: Wrong return value for Intl Normalizer::normalize
From: krewecherl at gmail dot net
Operating system:
PHP version: Irrelevant
Package: Documentation problem
Bug Type: Documentation Problem
Bug description:Wrong return value for Intl Normalizer::normalize
Description:
------------
---
From manual page: http://www.php.net/normalizer.normalize
---
"Return Values: The normalized string or NULL if an error occurred."
This function/method returns FALSE (not NULL) if the string could not
be normalized. (The only code path that would lead to a NULL return
value can only be entered in pathological conditions, like a buffer
overflow.)
The normal way to signal a normalization failure, e.g. with invalid
UTF-8 sequences, is to return FALSE.
Example:
var_dump(normalizer_normalize("\x85"));
