Its a known issue, over half of the SPL documentation is not
documented, but its slowly in progress.

See phpdoc/scripts/check-missing-spldocs.php for a list of undocumented
classes.

SplFileObject has no documentation in the manual, in fact this is never
even mentioned except as result of SplFileInfo::openFile
