This bug has been fixed in the documentation's XML sources. Since the
online and downloadable versions of the documentation need some time
to get updated, we would like to ask you to be a bit patient.
Thank you for the report, and for helping us make our documentation better.

Log: Change the documentation of sqlite_key() to reflect that it can only be called
as an instance method, unlike every other SQLite function. The previous
changelog was, in fact, completely incorrect.
This is absolutely not the right way to do this, and anyone who has a better
idea for how to represent this case is welcome to commit their own fix.
Unfortunately, because the OO API is just a set of method aliases for the
procedural API and it's infrequently used, we don't have the class/method
structure that we have in (say) mysqli, and attempting to retrofit it now would
result in all of the URLs for the SQLite function pages breaking.
Ugh.
Fixes doc bug #54073 (The sqlite_key() documentation should mentioned
procedural usage), for a very low value of fixes.

Very curious indeed. I checked it myself with 5.3.8, and sqlite_key is no longer
a defined function. However, I'm not seeing where in the extension sources this
is. I wonder if it's a result of someone moving files about in anticipation of
the extension being relegated back to PECL?

It was the latests PHP5.3 version available at the moment.

Do you recall which version of PHP you were using for the test? As noted on the
manual page for sqlite_key(), it could not be called as a procedural function
prior to PHP 5.0.4.

Description:
------------
While testing the PHP code during atestfest we found that we couldn't call sqlite_key(). After
some more testing and searching it turned up it was a bug: http://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=31510
As said in the bug report, the bug isn't going to be fixed. To keep the documentation clear
this should be mentioned in a NOTE or something.
