We know about this problem, but we have absolutely no idea, what is causing it. Nothing was changed in the build system, so we don't know why the pages are so slow... If you are so strongly interested in generating CHms yourself, see http://cvs.php.net/cvs.php/phpdoc/chm where all the generator scripts reside (they can use those files in that .tar.bz2). > I'll try to download the latest chm version of the manual from > http://weblabor.hu/php-doc-chm and check if it is also very > slow. It should not be. [As reported by guys who also experienced problems with the CHMs from php.net]. > Please try to check these before making these available for download > because place where we live, dialup connections have to be used and > download speed is very-very slow. The CHMs at php.net are generated in an automated process, and the one at weblabor.hu is generated by hand, with many tests before the release. As the one at weblabor.hu is a bit more innovative, some bugs and errors can be in the pages code.. Goba
