I've asked my girlfriend (a professional artist) to work with me on a logo/colour scheme for the docs site, it will hopefully be ready to show you guys by the end of this week (hopefully by the end of tonight :).
Do you have a name for the site? like smarty, gtk, PEAR, PECL that you'd like to use instead of "Docs" ?
Is this effort even appreciated/wanted? I've shown her all the other project logos so she will be using those for inspiration with regards to style and such.
My preference would be that we don't go on the now quite boring 'all php.net sites look the same' route, but so far it seems this is only my strong feeling :) Or at least no more people shouted up to support this viewpoint.
I think this is actually something that we *must* do - this makes users feel right at home, and ensures a continuity between all the sites in the project.
AFAIK this is not aimed at end users. CVS.php.net, lxr.php.net, talks.php.net, snaps.php.net, master.php.net, etc. all have their own interfaces suited for that task. They are mostly not for end users but developers (much like our site is going to be for documentation authors). The end user sites of php.net has some common branding.
I am fine with not inventing another acronym, which we should describe to people in the future all the time. 'Documentation' is what people understand without more explanation :)
So "Documentation" not "Docs"?
Pick your choice :)
