Can't we just offer a downloadable PHP version of the manual, as well? That would be pretty nice... I mean, you can build it yourself, but that's not really easy or anything.
As I have said, I have this on my TODO list. It is only worth it if it can provide local search, index, etc. This was discussed at the 2002 march phpdoc meeting (a format similar to chm but platform independent). I have already started to get ready for the subject, but I am having higher priorities. Now my focused subjects are: help XSL generation be ready for production, make php.net search either always work, or nicely provide an error message in case it does not work, etc. There are many things on my TODO list. In case someone else volunteers to create a downloadable PHP format, we can start off from that... BTW I have some code contributed by a guy to be used as a local manual searcher, but I had no time to look into it seriously... [It also needs a huge cleanup, as that code as-is should not be distributed as official PHP.net production source code IMHO]. Goba
