Also, the new PHP 5 OOP syntax is *almost* identical to Java's OOP syntax. So if you can learn OOP programming in PHP5, then porting that knowledge to Java and other OOP languages should be easily done.
I found the following book on OOP very helpful. It has simple code examples in C++ & Java. None of this is hardly mentioned in the PHP 5 manual. All that gives AFAIK is the OOP syntax for PHP 5. Does not actually tell you how to use OOP techniques in great depth.
