Ok, maybe we're all stupid, but how do you want to submit form stuff without using a form? checkboxes are form thingies, using them outside of a form wont do anything, they will not do anything, no matter how hard you try. How should the browser know where to send the data to if you dont use a form? Right, it CAN'T know where to send it, cause you never told it. Solution: use a form.
