You may be able to protect the topic_id by adding a dummy var after it:
<a href="research.phtml?topic_id=<? print($topic_id); ?>&protect_topic_id=1"
target="main">

Subject: [PHP] session question
I'm using transparent sessions on my web site and it is going well except
for one page with this code:
<a href="research.phtml?topic_id=<? print($topic_id); ?>"
target="main">
Instead of having the link show up as:
research.phtml?topic_id=5&PHPSESSID=blahblahblah
I get : research.phtml?topic_id=&PHPSESSID=blahblahblah
Prior to adding the session_start() to the page it worked:
research.phtml?topic_id=5
Any help greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.
