You're using the wrong syntax. Try putenv("MYVAR=hello");

Subject: [PHP] environment variables
Hello,
I want to store value in an environment variable with PHP4 and it does not
work.
For instance :
<HTML>
<?
putenv("$MYVAR=hello");
echo getenv("MYVAR");
?>
</HTML>
Please, help me.
