We use a freebie called "image magic" from http://www.imagemagick.org
which is installed on your server: /path/to/imagemagik/file.exe to
resize image rather than use PHP's image manipulation functions.
Why not store the path/to/image in the database, then when you query the
DB you can use php's exec() function to execute the various imagemagick
functions to resize your image on the fly?

Subject: [PHP-DB] resizing images comming out of blobs
Hi there,
I am wondering how to resize an image which is stored in a mysql blob
field.
With files this workes just fine, but how to do this with the image
comming
from blob? Has anybody done this already?
Thank you for any help on that,
andy
