php4 and oracle.

so i saw on an oracle message board a week or two ago that oracle and php4 don't play together nice at all. i'm curious if there is actually any merit to this or if that guy just happened to be unlucky or whatever. anyone having issues with oracle and php4 together? testimonials of successful use together would make me more at ease. =) also, for those successful, what is required to build a php4 client with oracle support? the oracle development libraries, i assume, and that's enough to build php4 with oracle support? what about that oci stuff? is that a wiser option? anyway, any info would be greatly appreciated. thanks! -tcl.
