ZEND_DEBUG has nothing to do with the PHP 3.0 debugger. At any rate, the PHP 3.0 debugger is not supported in PHP 4.0.

Did you try these settings in your php.ini? [Debugger] debugger.host = localhost debugger.port = 7869 debugger.enabled = False I'm guessing you need that to be set to True, if that is indeed for ZEND_DEBUG. If so, you might need an Apache restart afterwards.. Other than that, [root - php4-200008042145]% ./configure --help | grep debug--enable-debug Compile with debugging symbols. You've probably tried all of this.. I have not been able to find the doc's that spell it out.
