Hi, I'm trying to get php4.0.1pl2 installed as a static module with apache 1.3.12 (including support for mysql) on a Slackware Linux 7.1 system.. apache location: /var/lib/apache PHP location : /var/lib/php MySQL location : /lib/local/mysql Ive used the following installation method: 1. Stop server: /var/lib/apache/sbin/apachectl stop 2. Unpack PHP : gunzip php-4.0.1pl2.tar.gz tar -xvf php-4.0.1pl2.tar 3. cd ../apache 4. ./configure --prefix=/var/lib/apache 5. cd ../php 6. ./configure --with-mysql=/usr/local/mysql --with-apache=/var/lib/apache --enable-track-vars 7. make 8. make install 9. cd ../apache 10. ./configure --activate-module=src/modules/php4/libphp4.a 11. make 12. make install 13. edit httpd.conf (pico /var/lib/apache/conf/httpd.conf) 14. uncomment "AddType application/x-httpd-php4 .php" "AddType application/x-httpd-php4-source .phps" 15. renamed httpd* in: /var/lib/apache/sbin to oldhttpd* 16. copied new binary to sbin: cp /src/httpd /var/lib/apache/sbin/httpd 17. restarted server: /var/lib/apache/sbin/apachectl start No errors are encountered at any point during the install and it says that the server has started. However when I point netscape at localhost I'm denied access as the server is not running. When I quit Xwindows I see that the following error has occurred : "PID could not get read" When I try and restart the server it throws out a similar error message. Ive replaced the PHP binary with the original httpd binary and the server works again? I dont know much about apache so I dont know what this means, Can anyone help!
