Yes, after checking I've discovered that you can use both LIKE and regular expressions in sql statements with PostgresSql. More info here -
http://www.commandprompt.com/ppbook/index.lxp?lxpwrap=c7547%2ehtm
I've modified my SQL as follows :-
SELECT oid, * FROM table WHERE table.field ~* '$searchTerm'"
'string' ~* 'regex'
represents a case-insensitive regular expression, yielding true if the expression matches.
Could anyone suggest how I might add a weighting to results yeilded by this sort of query?
Regards,
Javier
