Specify authentication for SMTP mailserver?

I'm trying to send mail on a Windows machine using PHP. I have made the necessary corrections
in the php.ini file for the SMTP server address, and the sendmail_from, my problem is that my SMTP
server require authentication. How do I tell PHP to provide this?
