You probably can't do what you really want... I think your options are temp files, or using exec() to fork ImageMagic (aka convert) and splatting the strings through that... Neither is going to be convenient nor high-performance. 'Fraid I don't know which is slower either, but I'm guessing the temp files. This would be some nifty functionality though...
