php as servlet

I'm trying to install php as a servlet under tomcat to use the ext/php. everything is compiled and installed, but I can't get it to work. Questions: in /etc/httpd/httpd.conf : am I supposed to load the php module here? ( As with standard apxs ) Tomcat servlets works fine, but it does not work with php files..
