No, I meant what I wrote. See R. Stevens' UNP and TCP/IP Illustrated for details
On Linux the best way to do it is through sendmsg()/recvmsg() and on
Windows I think you would use DuplicateHandle().
Not too many things use fd passing because it tends to be a pain to make
portable. Some things I have run into that does use it is fhttpd, pty,
and Gnome.
