Right now the system is quite simple. There`s lots of columns in the
database, but one of them is called today. When someone adds an article,
the today field gets the value 'yes'. Now...when the changing should take
place, this today changes to 'no' and next article with the value of 'yes'
gets displayed. I hope this makes sense to you.

That
s also a possibility, but right now the 'magazine' wont be
anything very big and I think the easiest way to keep it, would be just to
display the articles in order of time they were added. In future, it can
be changed, but right now I want to make it as automatic as possible.
