Being a starter you should really check out the relevant documentations,
for HTML forms
http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40/interact/forms.html
for PHP forms processing
http://www.php.net/manual/en/tutorial.forms.php
(AT LEAST).
The online docs and specs are a vast resource of information; it will help
you avoiding much trouble if you consider reading it.
