I've got a problem that I cannot seem to resolve... I'm sending emails from
PHP4/Sendmail and the recipients are spread across Windows, Linux and Mac.
It seems that the formatting of these emails are different for each, and I
cannot explain why. I've done this within ColdFusion without these types of
problems.
the body of the message is two parts, the first of which is text I
explicitly specify and then the remainder is through an HTML <TEXTAREA>.
I've tried adding '\r\n' at the end of each line, and the formatting for
Windows and Mac email users was fine, but the Linux users weren't getting
any formatting.
So then I tried just '\n' and everything was fine for Windows and Mac, but
on the Linux account everything except the text from the <TEXTAREA> was
formatted properly, which all ran together.
So then I added a ereg_replace( "\n\, "", $text ) to the form field element,
and the emails for Windows and Linux were formatted properly but the emails
for Mac users all ran together.
How can I format these emails so that all users (Windows, Linux, and Mac)
get properly formatted emails? Formatted so that the text is properly
carriage returned in the text I specify, and retains all carriage returns
from the <TEXTAREA> form field.
thanx!
