The only other option is to actually compile these C library functions into
your PHP executable (or create a DLL... but I have had troubles with this).
The functions could then be called just like the other PHP functions. The
README.EXT_SKEL document in the PHP source code describes how to add a new
extension for these functions in Linux. If you are working with Windows,
there are a few more steps involved. If you are working in Windows, let me
know and I can tell you what you need to do. I have just recently gone
through this process if you need any help with it, but I know there are
others on this board with far more experience with this than I.
