Maybe, but the performance difference you'll see now will depend on
your database or filesystem. I know Mysql isn't especially good at
doing lots of inserts and updates, while a reiserFS is especially
good with dealing with lots of small files.
it just depends on too many things to say one thing is definitely
better. If it were me though, I'd go with the filesystem because I've
had too many hassles with a table locking up on me and bringing down
my whole site.
