Session Expire

I am having a problem with my sessions expiring within a few minutes
when I am moving between 2 pages. I need to fix this but I cannot edit
the php.ini file since the pages is hosted on a hosting service.
How can I solve this problem in my php code so the session will not
expire until the browser is closed or the user logs out.
