php.ini: session.gc_maxlifetime integer
session.gc_maxlifetime specifies the number of seconds after which data will be seen as 'garbage' and cleaned up.
http://www.php.net/manual/en/ref.session.php
Then you can change the value defined in the php.ini by using:
http://www.php.net/manual/en/function.ini-set.php
ini_set ('session.gc_maxlifetime', 1440); // increase this value as needed
This probably need to be defined prior to any session_start or similar function that's going to start the session(s).

I am having a problem with my sessions expiring within a few minutes when I am moving between 2 pages. I need to fix this but I cannot edit the php.ini file since the pages is hosted on a hosting service. How can I solve this problem in my php code so the session will not expire until the browser is closed or the user logs out. Thanks Kelly
