ummm thats right aparantly there is trouble with gd , just do --with-gd and
it should get the packaged library, or is that not working ?

I am having similar troubles to someone earlier trying to install GD
with php 4.3.1. I have tried compiling php with the path to the gd.h and
libgd.(also) directories but I get error messages saying they don't
exist in those locations. I followed the advice previously posted by
using just /usr/local but I got the same error messages.
